wayne, you said >Look at Cyrix chart for a true horror story and glimmer of things to come in this sector<

Please explain why you think Cyrix predicts the DD sector.

Wayne,
Thanks for your observations. I think you could have also added KMAG and STMD to your list of concerns. However I do not share your thoughts about time table for the very reasons you mention. I think the ferocity of the battle should cause fall out to occur sooner rather then later. Since I am presently not long on any stock in the dd sector my conundrum is when to get back on. I think we will get a chance to start picking some up before the half way mark this year. Also, I can not think of any linearity between Cyrix and the DD sector.
Best,
Stitch

"Expect to see this stock hit $10 to $12.(earnings of $1 in 99, tops)."

Wayne,
I see no reason for your pessimism. Sure the situation looks grim, but there are some plus points ontheir way:
Windows 98 will be released this year, and this will require an awful lot of hard disk space. I predict that 3,2gig will be the minimum box spec by the end of the year.
The HK$ will be devalued soon, alomg with the RMB. This together with a new government in Indonesia will see a soon end to the Asian crisis
Lastly QNTM does not loose a cent manufacturing HD's, as they don't make them themselves as any reader of this thread is well aware.
Why should demand for DLT slow down??

Alan

<<Expect to see this stock hit $10 to $12>>
I can bet you that QNTM will see $25 sooner than it sees $12.
As the matter of fact I believe that we see $25 THIS WEEK!
If INTC delivers the number the whole tech sector is saved.
Look at the market today:
semiconductors are up (TXN, MU)
DD's are up (QNTM, SEG, WDC)
Everyone is waiting to get a signal from Intel to begin a massive bying. I do not see them to miss the number and the CC should be good.
