Sew is on tech stock options.

What is your best guesstimate about MOT and INTC next week? I would still be interested in any analysis you have concerning MOT. This thread would be very hungry for your analysis.

I am not sure what the effect of INTC's earnings will be. The techs may have cycled down and there is the Asian problem, which will effect them regardless. It could be that MOT will not make their numbers next week. The market could stay even or go up Monday and then fall on Tuesday. Intel's earnings could be even or slightly positive, and the techs would recover some. However, the rest of the market could be hit during the latter part of the week, or earlier, with financials weakening as well as transports and that will have an impact on the techs as well, including IOM, especially if the drop is only half as sharp as some are predicting. In short, you are right, the shorts are dangerous. Wouldn't you agree, however, that in this market, the likelihood of a runaway to the upside is less than to the downside, which would allow some greater time to trade out of a short position. Stocks giving good reports are not way up...although I have not been keeping a list of them...so perhaps my perception is selective.

In short, who the hell knows, which is why we talk with each other in order to check our perceptions of reality against those of others (IMHO)
