Somehow every dept and agency can tighten its belt and do more with less except for DoD, which not only has the largest budget by far, but also has many programs and bases that they themselves don't want but congress insists on because they employ people in their district or state.

And of course then they complain about Medicaid and welfare costs which are negligible compared not only to DoD costs as a whole but to a number of individual DoD programs that could be shut down without actually harming defense one iota..

It is nuts.
