I built a gaming desktop for a friend of mine about a month ago. I considered getting him an M.2 SSD. It's an easier install, if you have a compatible motherboard, but after reading the stories about them heating up I went with the Samsung pro sata SSD.

Speed is definitely a plus with M.2 and the price difference for the 256GB M.2 and the 256GB sata SSD is negligible, but the possible heat problems swayed me.
