You don't know that. What I learned in the 60's is that when people are stuck in a mind set that is not a good one, like racists, they will resist, but they also consider what is being said.

The counter culture called it :"blowing one's mind".

I expect trump and the Republicans to let this shut down go for a bit because many of them see it as hurting liberals, whom they hate. It is not rational, but then southern poor people voting for Republicans is not rational.

You have seen in your life time attitudes change regarding racism, misogyny, and gay marriage and gays in general.

I think this had a lot to do with public shaming. The guy who is/was a racist, but now hangs his head when confronted with it, knowing he is wrong.

Bad behavior needs to be pointed out, so people can consider it.

Keeping still did nothing for the African American in the south for 100 years, but the civil rights movement, which was very contentious , ended it.
