John,

Re: "Just curious, but are you seriuos about AMD being a good buy NOW?"

AMD has been a very poor "long term" investment ... just look at this
chart of AMD over the last 15 years.

quote.yahoo.com

In 1983, AMD was at about $18/share ... and today in 1998, AMD is at
about $18/share.

In the "short term", AMD has shown the ability to HYPE their products
as "real competition" to Intel. Many analysts/MM have bought this and
would like to see this come true. Thus. I believe that AMD has a potential
25% downside risk (to $13/share) while having an upside potential of
75% (to $32/share). Since the technology stocks have been "beaten down",
AMD can be a profitable investment if they continue to HYPE new products
like the K6 3D+XYZ AND do not miss major commitments (like shipments
to Compaq, IBM ...). At the present the potential positives for AMD
outway the negatives.

However with this said, all the "long term" negatives are still in place (like
inferior process technology, Intel as a competitor ...). DO NOT just
buy and hold this stock!!

Make It So,
Yousef
