As I recall, Boehner was willing to bring up the immigration compromise but his right wing hard liners said that if he did that would end his speakership. Therein lies the problem. The only resolution of that is to put the House back in Dem control.

The house or Trump, either, could tank any immigration promise by McConnell. Very convenient.
