Yes. It is. You make a choice to live here. IF you choose that, you can try to change the system, but you need to know it's stacked against you. Corporations now have much more power than they did before the Citizens United decision. We are now clearly an oligarch- the trappings of democracy remain, but corporations hold the real power. You can work to reserve that- and maybe it can be done. I don't think so, but I hope I'm wrong. Or you can move. Or you can choose to live a peon under the oligarchs. Thems your choices. Until the world blows up. Then we will all, blissfully, be relieved from all choices.
