I'm reluctant to make that a liberal / conservative divide. Liberalism is about seeing the needs of others and responding. Modern conservationism used to be about holding people to account. Both are legitimate points of view. Frankly, the help of Russian robots and criminally associated casino operator / reality TV stars is a novel take on that... it seems to be a mania of some kind - a politics of schadenfreude where the most enjoyment seems to be the attack on the planet and the weak and helpless. I saw a meme to the effect "Atheist refuses to treat Fundamentalist." My wife and I had talked about that a day or so earlier. She said it wouldn't happen. While cognitively satisfying as a meme, that is unlikely to happen as most agnostics and atheists are liberal humanists. They wouldn't use membership to their "club" as a means test for health care.
