Allen, There are plenty of mainland China stocks ("Red Chips") trading in Hong Kong that are getting hit much harder over the past few sessions than the Hang Seng Index, and therefore China itself could be the ultimate concern for the US market. It's interesting that both the Hang Seng and the Dow Industrials peaked on exactly the same day last year...August 7. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ...China plays took a beating, hit by higher interest rates. ''I think basically some of them are in high gearing and that interest rates will put them in a difficult situation,''said Sean Li, associate director at Amsteel Securities.
