Why do countries have tariffs? How about Trump proposes all countries eliminate all tariffs after a certain date. And any country that doesn't we will mirror theirs.

I get nervous thinking about escalating tariffs.
I happened to be listening to People's Radio in the car yesterday and they had two people on who spoke favorably about the recent tariffs. Both strongly advocated that the US has been taken advantage of in trade and it's time for that to change.

Quite surprising to hear that on People's Radio.
