Often, this is simply a "sell the news" reaction for stocks that have run up substantially into the news:

Also...sell off in semi companies reporting great results is puzzling.
It may be weak hands who worry that it's too good to be true. It could be that some view the news as not as good as they were expecting. It also could be that there were nuggets in the news that changed the forward thinking and that has gone from bullish to neutral/bearish.

It's very "normal" for the market and individual stocks but it's always come with the head scratching that you've stated.
