It's the curse of being a moderate and centrist. You are reviled by most people on these threads. I voted for Obama, because he convinced me that he understood the intersection of our economy, terrorism, and climate change when it comes to how our then oil dependency was detrimentally impacting this country. After one term, I realized that Obama was far more socialist than I had figured and then I voted for Romney, who I thought would bring back common sense business savvy to our economy. Trump now has a situation where the US is not only energy independent, but we're disrupting OPEC and Russia with our energy dominance. So we're in a much better situation today. I just hope Trump doesn't impede the growth of renewables, because I think we need to continue to encourage all sorts of energy supplies and let the free market rule. I also think we should get the hell out of the Middle East and ignore them for a few decades. We don't need the Arabs and their oil anymore. Let them all rot with their terrorism and awful Sharia Law. The sooner we mind our own business the sooner they'll stop targeting us and go back to killing each other in their millennium tribal warfare. Anyway, you know I'm a former business executive, and after lifelong experience have become an economic conservative, although I tend to be a social liberal. Seems hard to reconcile for most people, but I am a capitalist who believes in a live and let live philosophy of small government. That puts me against most GOP and DNC priorities. Trump is fitting the bill for me nicely, though. I think he is mostly right on economic issues and I agree with some of his immigration policies, such as his merit based proposals for entry and his strong border push (although there are better technologies than walls), and I definitely agree with his negotiation tactic of DACA expansion for border security funding. I just wish he'd find a better way to create a fast path for hispanic immigrants, who want to work legally in this country. I think we need them, but I want them here legally and I totally disagree with the Dem's Resistance movement and this idea that we can ignore and break laws we don't like. Democrats are encouraging chaos and lawlessness. That is not what this country is about. We are country of law and order. So although I not only sympathize, but empathize with immigrants, because I come from a family of immigrants myself, I do NOT endorse illegality in any form. My family got here the hard way, legally, and we're all citizens and pay taxes and work hard. We are large net contributors to the wealth and security of this country. "Undocumented workers", as Dems like to call them, are in fact ILLEGAL aliens. They have committed a crime of illegal entry. We cannot excuse that, because it goes against what this country is fundamentally about. The Dems are wrong on this issue. Plain and simple. And remember, my family are immigrants. So I have the right to give informed opinions on this issue. Dem's false sympathy is irritating to all law abiding immigrants. Anyway, the liberals have become unhinged, because of Trump. It very much reminds me of how unhinged the conservatives were when we first elected Obama. It's a Derangement Syndrome. We used to laugh about Obama Derangement Syndrome. Now, we can all laugh about Trump Derangement Syndrome. At least Obama had a friendly press biased in his favor, which enabled him to get up to speed fast, appoint his preferred team, and do his job. Unfortunately, Trump has an openly hostile press biased against him, not to mention a laundry list of government agencies stocked with liberal career Democrats who are feloniously working against him. That is why our government is so dysfunctional. We have traitors to this country that won't let Trump do the damned job we elected him to do. They are ignoring how Democracies are supposed to work....a peaceful transition of power, not an attempted soft coup. If you didn't get the guy you wanted in office, you still owe this country enough loyalty to let the other guy do his job. That's what disagreeing without being disagreeable is all about, to quote Obama. The liberals and their "Resistance" have forgotten what America is all about.
