Company Press Release

PeopleSoft to Enter Outsourcing Market

Strategic Alliances and Dedicated Business Unit for Outsourcing Sales and Service

PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 12, 1998--PeopleSoft, Inc., (NASDAQ:PSFT - news), a leading
provider of enterprise application software, today announced a new initiative focused on the development of the
market for outsourced enterprise solutions.

These efforts will include business development and the formation of strategic alliances, as well as the creation of
a dedicated business unit for sales and service. PeopleSoft will officially launch its outsourcing program in the
first half of 1998. Details will be announced at that time.

''PeopleSoft intends to bring new ideas and initiatives to the outsourcing market that will benefit our current and
future customers,'' said Aneel Bhusri, senior vice president of product strategy. ''We've put together a talented
team composed of leading thinkers in the outsourcing industry, as well as proven executives from PeopleSoft
with experience in developing new markets.''

PeopleSoft Strategy to Address Both IT and Business Process Outsourcing

PeopleSoft understands that the outsourcing market is divided into two segments, Information Technology
Outsourcing (ITO) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). In ITO, the organization's technology
infrastructure, including hardware, software, and networks, is managed by a third party. In BPO, a third party
manages both the IT systems and specific business functions, such as accounts receivable collection or
employee benefits administration.

PeopleSoft's outsourcing strategy will address the requirements for both ITO and BPO through selective
alliances with emerging leaders in the outsourcing market.

Key Executives for Outsourcing Initiative

To support PeopleSoft's outsourcing efforts the company has made two new executive appointments in the areas
of strategy and sales.

John Haworth has been named director of outsourcing strategy and will head up the business development and
strategy functions for the PeopleSoft outsourcing team. He joins PeopleSoft from Fidelity Investments, where he
was the founding vice president of the HR and Payroll outsourcing business.

Haworth is the former head of HRIS for both Fidelity and the Raytheon Company [NYSE:RTNa - news], and has
over 20 years of management experience, including financial and investment systems management for American
Express, the Bank of Boston, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

Phil Fauver has been named general manager of the Outsourcing Business Unit and will head up the sales effort
for the PeopleSoft outsourcing team. Since 1991 Fauver has held a number of senior executive positions at
PeopleSoft, including general manager of all commercial industry business units and vice president and general
manager of the Southern Region sales operations.

Before joining PeopleSoft, Fauver was a senior consultant with The Partners Group; served as the president of
Classic Software of America; and was president of Dyer, Wells & Associates.

Pete .. Don't quote me on this but I believe one of our esteemed participants,

Paul Levy, has more than once stated that Yahoo! figures are not that reliable. But I don't tend to follow-up and dig into these issues. Maybe someone else knows??? BTW, haven't heard from Paul lately.
