I have some sympathy for Wray. I can't imagine having to inherit such a shitstorm.

No problem for him personally if he is completely honest.

He certainly has inherited a st-storm, but he also seems intent on making it worse. He serves at the pleasure of the President. If he had issues with regard to the memo, his recourse is to make his objections in a private setting, away from the hot heat of the media. Publicizing them and therefore undermining his boss simply contributes to the sh-storm. Neither a loyal nor a politic thing to do. Unless a private agenda is in play. Wray I suppose also thinks that since Trump recently appointed him, it would be impolitic for Trump to fire him for this latest act of political grandstanding that undermines the Administration. So it seems that he probably feels that he has some freedom of movement with regard to challenging Trump. He's probably right. Given Trump's personality, that has to really gall him. High level politics is the grandest sport of all, makes all others look like tiddlywinks. And it is very real as careers, lives, reputations, the future course of national life, etc., are all in play. And we're about to enter a stretch of political life that is as high-risk, fun, and extremely consequential as any I've ever seen.
