"fired him for
lying about media leaks"

Nope; sorry, comrade. Steele fired the FBI.

Ex-British Spy Behind the Steele Dossier Feared FBI was Co-Opted by ...

by Trump Supporters
The revelation emerged in the transcript of congressional testimony from Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson that was released Tuesday.

Steele in the months after his Rome meeting apparently grew frustrated with the FBI, which he apparently believed did little to act on the concerns that he'd shared. After the FBI abruptly announced that it was reactivating its investigation into Clinton's use of a private email server days before the election, and after agents were cited in an Oct. 31 report by The New York Times claiming that the bureau had found little to connect Trump with the Kremlin, the former intelligence agent broke off contact entirely.

"On October 31st the New York Times posted a story saying that the FBI is investigating Trump and found no connections to Russia and, you know, it was a real Halloween special," Simpson testified. Sometime thereafter the FBI – I understand Chris severed his relationship with the FBI out of concern that he didn't know what was happening inside the FBI and there was a concern that the FBI was being manipulated for political ends by the Trump people and that we didn't really understand what was going on. So he stopped dealing with them."

Reimbursing travel expenses isn't the same as hiring.

But I will take this opportunity to say the FBI SHOULD investigate all reports of ties of a President and candidate with extensive ties to Russia. It IS a hostile power and NOT our friend.

Trey Gowdy spent the weekend saying this and he's right to do so. As he pointed out the dossier is only a part of the evidence against President Treason and his campaign team.
