Melissa-- Like you, I perceive ATHM to be the future, and the near future at that. A no brainer? Again, like you, no brainers set off red flags, flares, and makes my fur bristle. That's why I bought only a small position. Risks? Security seems to be an issue. I don't know how serious this is, or what fixes may be plausable. Speed? No competition on the horizon. Copper wires ain't gonna get it... and cable having coax into the home is their BIG trump card. Profitable business plan? ATHM's plan looks good to me. At 1/2 of 1% of all potential homes passed, the profits gush in... at 5% (year 2002?) penetration folks will talk about how they bought ATHM at $3 (split adjusted). Paul

Melissa, ATHM and NLV

ATHM addresses fiber optic solutions, whereas I'm 90% sure NLV
offers wired cable solutions. I've been told by a friend in the
semi-support end, that the 1st boxes will work with conventional tv
only and not be convertable to digital tv. I suspect this is NLV.
ATHM with fiber solutions should address the digital tv solution.
There should be a big need early on for the convention solution,
then as digital tv market accelerates, ATHM should come to play.
