A huge problem for them is that they passed tax cuts for the wealthy in the time of an elderly bull market. This is the time to be strengthening social supports and structures, not eviscerating supports and the taxes that make them possible so you can give every CEO a few million in CEO chump change. When the downturn comes, as it will, the CEO's aren't going to be affected immediately- as it was with the housing crisis, it will be (mostly) the working poor who get shafted- hard and long.
