We liberals and hopefuls make the assumption that Americans are generally critical thinkers who recognize facts. Perhaps all the paranoia and fear got to them. Perhaps they elect hucksters because the economic reality was causing them so much cognitive dissonance. Most people do not even have $1G in the bank, cannot afford one expensive pothole in road of life, or for that matter their utilities, rent and food. They will deflect this pain and vote for a huckster that promises protection from Mexicans, or LBGTQ+, or "probable thugs." How do we unravel the disinformation, turn on the lights?? THAT is our challenge vs. the current extremist machine that has created a cult. The machine is powerful. We have to throw a wrench into its gears and turn the lights back on. With tour own radical focus on cultural zero-tolerance vs. proportionality; we can't even unite our own tent yet.
