The uniform global assurance that the real macro is OK augers wells for a continued market decline after a dead cat bounce at some point.

Some Republican legislators say they're being threatened with the imposition of martial law if they don't vote for the "continuing resolution" to keep the US government open past Thursday - echos of the George W Bush and Henry Paulson strong-arming for TARP and the bank bail-outs.

The Fed also ordered Wells Fargo today to shrink their assets to no more than last year, so at least some too-big-to-fail banks are not passing stress tests.

There's a lot of people feeling the need to get drunk tonight, and not just the Wells CEO. The Fed sent out personal warning letters to each of the Wells Fargo board members warning them of personal consequences if Wells doesn't toe the line.
