It was called "starve the beast." The gop plan since Reagan was to create so much debt that Democrats would be forced to cut Social Security, Medicare and everything else. Treasury says we need $955 billion in new debt to pay for what they're spending this year (2018). Next year over $1 trillion, then more than that two years from now. There's not enough money in the world to fund the debt they're creating since the world hates the US. Think of it for a second, $1 trillion deficits for the rest of time.....something has to give and it's not going to be tax cuts for the rich.
