The debt is massive, $1 trillion a year during a healthy economy is unprecedented. IMO, they wanted people to think they made the market go up since it was already going up so they passed massive tax cuts and massive debt.

Americans are not long-term people. The deficit will never be more than a one day story so no matter what happens they can get away with it. That's why the debt nearly tripled under Reagan and doubled under Bush.

At some point, most likely long after it's too late, the market will have enough people in it who can see how bad tax cuts are. Debt is future taxes plus interest so their tax cut is really a massive tax increase.

I took one hell of a beating these past few days but it's not the first time. I'm still up significantly more than all the major indexes but that's not saying much.
