He's already had his year.

Won't you give me a year, too?

A year wasn't necessary.

You would've had a great profit merely by waiting 3 months. Here
is the stock price performance of the 3 embedded systems sector
stocks I recommended on Dec. 17 at
Message 2987718.

Company 12/17/97 Today Gain
Award Software (AWRD) 8 ¬ 10 « 27%
Electronics for Imaging (EFII) 16 27 70%
Xionics (XION) 9 4 1/4 -53%
------
Average 15%

As you can see, this small portfolio of embedded system stocks has
performed better than Wind River.

Electronics for Imaging is an important Wind River customer that went
through the "hockey stick" and it's time to sell. There's no sense in
getting greedy. Nobody ever went broke accepting a big profit!

I suggest replacing it with another important Wind River customer,
Adaptec. They recently bought Symbios Logic, a maker of RAID storage
systems using I2O. You can read the Wind River press release at
biz.yahoo.com. Adaptec earned
$265m last year and the market cap is triple that of Wind River, who
only earned $18m. The stock market has gone mad! Doesn't it strike
anyone on this thread as odd that the small company selling software
for $1.40-1.75 gets so much more respect than the company selling the
entire system for thousands of dollars?

Award has had a great run in the last 3 months, but I still recommend
holding until it reaches 13 5/8, as I explained at
Message 3309266. That post
also contains the lessons Allen Benn would've learned about
SystemSoft if he had been studying it as diligently as he studies
Wind River.

Xionics remains a big disappointment. The stock price is starting to
recover (up 11% today), but sometimes it's necessary to wait more than
3 months for big profits to roll in. As I requested earlier, give me
a year on that one. Your winners can subsidize your losers, so
Greg M. has a good point about diversification at
