Scott,

I never give advice --- it's just that misery likes company --- but after being absent for a month I picked quite a day to show up!!! Anyway -- good luck.

Regarding the Murphy recommendation & statement re: Merck announcong FDA approval--- here's my two cents.

Merck started the Influenza vaccine Phase I trial around 5/1/96. They have since completed it but no results have been announced. The only mention I ever found re: the Aids vaccine was a briefing from the President of Merck to a Congressional Task Force on 6/23/97. He stated that they had licensed the technology from Vical & that Merck's Aids vaccine was in Pre-clinical status. So Murphy is likely referring to Merck announcing FDA approval to enter Phase I testing.

Other information I have gotten from brokerage analysis in the past indicate an approximate date of 2002 for actual products (if any).

fwiw,

Bill
