<< Thing is, he wants a Jaz, but he would rather have a gig for $39 than $90. >>

For most people or companies who have chosen JAZ reliability was paramount and cost was very much a secondary issue at the prices we are talking about. So, the question is, how much does your friend value his data? As they say about motor-cycle crash helmets: "If you have a $10 head, buy a $10 helmet."

FIDO, who scoots around in the worst of weathers.

Nathan, I can't believe that this sharp group has missed the real reason to not buy a Sparq. Syquest may be out of business soon! They have been bleeding massive amounts of red ink for a long time and that combined with their legal troubles makes them ripe for bankruptcy. Will someone else still support the media? Maybe. It may not be worth it for such a small installed base. Would I buy one with my job on the line? No way. Good luck.
