"Will future historians date the fall of America to Trump or Obama administration? My money is on the latter."

I'll take the Contract on America thru Bush v Gore.

I would blame the Republican party in general.

It goes back to the 1964 civil rights act and Lee Atwater's Southern Strategy and the 60's counter culture reaction by rural America, which allowed the south and rural America to dominate the congress and presidency for 60 years and manifest their ideas over the Democrats. Which has been an unmitigated disaster.

They gave us Nixon's criminal administration that extend the Viet Nam war for years just to get Nixon reelected. Imagine the death and destruction he/they allowed just to win and election.

Then Reagan who destroyed the middle class and empowered the plutocrats, Bush jr and now Trump where the Republican leadership seeking reelection has supported Trump 100% and the rank and file 87%.

Trump is just a reflection of Republican thinking.

Historians will mark our decline beginning in the Reagan years since the debt tripled for no reason and "fiscal conservatives" learned they could lie to their voters over a period of decades about tax cuts and debt.

Treasury needs $955 billion this year and more than $1 trillion each of the next two years. The gop simply lacks the intellect to see how god awful these numbers are or how they caused the debt to explode. Fox hasn't told them what to think yet so they don't know anything about the debt their party creates.
