I also agree the primary downturn of our society was caused by Reagan. But the stage was set with lee Atwater's Southern strategy to get their votes. All of a sudden the Republicans had all of the southern states replacing Dixiecrats. A huge section of the dem party, heretofore. That set up the election of Reagan and he had marching orders from the oligarchs (deconstruct the unions and government regulations-same ol, same ol); and a string of terrible Republican presidents. PS , and there was no president any worse than Nixon-lol.
