You should read the article.
His point is very different than wisdom of the crowd or two heads are better than one and that sort of thing. And remember that he runs experiments and genetic selection rather than pure social theory.

The super short version of his point is this - the same things that make someone a superstar and great as an individual contributor, also make him terrible as a team player. Worse, these people tend to kill the lesser beings in their team. So building a team made up of the best and brightest is a folly.
