I'd suggest the end of real news happened a long time ago. Remember Whitewater, lies about Vince Foster being murdered, WMDs and the granddaddy of them all "tax cuts will balance the budget." One party has mastered the art of controlling the media with a false narrative. They come up with words like "establishment" and within days everyone is using it. They say "Lying Ted" and within days every republican is repeating it. When Bush went to war and learned his statements about WMDs were not true did he leave the war with his tail between his legs (as would be normal for anyone who's that wrong)? No, he stayed in the war for the rest of his presidency without one person saying "what the hell is he doing?"
