I think they were aiming for Monaco without the casino, vice or any communists - and definitely without a reversion clause to China. Of course the "no casino" part got broken in 2010 by the wastrels who inherited the place. Of course I need not mention you may want to keep your opinions about Singapore to yourself when visiting - it's a fine city. It's hard to argue with the "No Durians" rule - very sensible. *And WHAT* is it with people from China spitting on the ground ? ? ? ?** I would have thought that would go without saying - but apparently not. Friends have seen people in China even drop their pants and shit on the street too ! ! !
