* MILDLY OT * I mangaed to wipe out my Netscape Bookmarks over the weekend, and two I particularl;y want to replace are: 1. The clever way that GM (?) told me of scripting the SI URL so I do not have to sign in each time. 2. The URL for the world's exchanges and their current prices, &c, organized by continent, and giving both amount and percentage up or down -- well, down nowadays. I'd appreciate the help. FIDO

The price issues between IOM Jaz and Syquest SparQ are probably going to be negligible. Note Sunday NYTimes ads from J&R Computer a well known high volume distributor with lots of mail order business: For the past several weeks they have had side by side picture ads of IOM Jaz I GB drives with 1 disk included for $199 and SparQ 1 GB drives with 1 disk included for $199. So the only issue should be performance and compatibility for sharing drives/disks between machines. Jaz has an obvious edge with 1 million plus already sold. ...Confirming the channel checks: The same J&R ad page mentioned above shows 3 Apple Power PCs models for sale with all models including zip drives. Also Atlanta newpapers show that all three stores with pullout ads featuring computer products had products that featured a zip drive included. Circuit City featuring a Sony system with Iomega Zip drive included and this was underscored in their headline and by overlapping the system picture with a Zip Built-in Logo. Both Office Depot and Office Max ads feature the same lower end Compaq machine mentioned in a previous post in which a Zip drive is included. Notice the Compaq ads don't mention Iomega. Several on the Intel thread think that Compaq has problem with giving Intel any credit for their sales performance. They may also have a problem with Iomega for the same reason. Perhaps a matter of personalities at the top. Nonetheless, I have never seen so many ads showing Zip included systems. The OEMs must be getting better results with Zip drives included.
