Democrats have no message Nine months out, the 2018 midterm looks sad for the Democratic Party. The party keeps scrambling for a gimmick that will magically turn their fortunes around. The pussy-hat resistance and Antifa movement are not impressing voters. The weirdness never ends. Democrats discovered the hard way that opposing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was dumb. Workers looked at their first paychecks this year, and thought, "Democrats said this was a tax cut only for the rich. What gives? Am I suddenly rich?" Pelosi called it crumbs. She would not give the people even a crumb. The Russian dossier backfired. Voters are now seeing that Obama spied on Trump. That's not right. And sitting on their hands at the State of the Union address made them look like the peevish sourpusses they are. Pelosi chewing her cud was the Democratic Party highlight that night. Sorry Droolin' Joe Kennedy. Donors to the national party are as AWOL as those Pakistani ITs they hired who may turn out to be terrorists. My, my, you cannot trust legal immigrants either. The #MeToo movement has reached the annoyance level. Dustin Hoffman was a jerk to Meryl Streep 40 years ago? So what? He's always been a jerk. That's not a career ender. Or it shouldn't be. And #MeToo has fouled out the party's second-biggest draw. "In the lead up to the 2018 midterm elections, many Democrats are focused on embracing the #MeToo movement and therefore see former President Bill Clinton as 'too toxic' to campaign for Democratic candidates," the Washington Free Beacon reported. It quoted Democratic Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, vice chairwoman of the House Progressive Caucus, who said, "I think it’s pretty tough. [His presence] just brings up a lot of issues that will be very tough for Democrats. And I think we all have to be clear about what the #MeToo movement was." Finally, there is immigration reform. Democrats have no plan. They tried a government shutdown, which blew up in their faces. Now the party's activists are displeased to see no progress. This should be a big year for Democrats. Then again, the last election should have been a cake walk for Hillary.
