Actually I think one can hang the entire 20 trillion on the Republicans. The projection was to be out of debt in 12 years following Clinton's budget. Bush and the Republicans used that as an excuse to make huge tax cuts for the rich and then start two wars. Then Bush crashed the world, and out economy, with fraudulent CDO's, CDS's, no paper loans and an SEC chief who did nothing and Obama had to engage huge deficit spending to keep us out of a depression and now Trump's obscene budget cuts.
