I wasn't in school then but when I was it was not a big deal for young people to possess guns, and it was almost a rite of passage to receive a gun or rifle for one's 12th birthday, at least where I lived. If you're wanting to quibble over a few years, no thanks. I do believe it is certain that guns are not the root of the problem, and if you mask the problem by blaming guns, you just set the stage for other modalities.
