I don't know about other states, but California has something like that. Republicans don't like those kind of programs, though, because they usually involve a fair amount of tolerance teaching. Good citizens need to be tolerant of others- especially in a multi ethnic multicultural society. Tolerant people don't generally go shoot other people in the head. Just sayin'.

We also have social pragmatics specialists- usually in the speech departments- who help kids learn to interact with others when they have issues like autism. But those programs are expensive- and no district has very many people like that. And republicans seem to feel the schools are too "fat" already. And teachers are highly overpaid...whores? Was that the word used a couple days ago? I think so. Any way- so nice to see you championing extensive school programs.
