Leaving? I’m guessing with her credentials she would not find a better roost for herself than Cali. At her age she would never achieve proficiency let alone fluency in another language. I know married Russian professors that have an arrangement in Cuba for their retirement. They wanted some place warm, cheap and direct flights to Toronto or Moscow in case things went sideways, they speak textbook Spanish.
