You can thank me later... I did everyone a favor today and bought
NANO at $8. From a pure TA standpoint this was a HUGE mistake,
but I just couldn't resist. INTC earnings better come in ahead of
expectations or I'm in big trouble...

The market is obviously expecting NANO will suffer along with the other
semis due to the asian crisis. Sounds good in principle, but I noticed
something interesting recently. The DRAM crisis of 1996 was also
disastrous for semis. Take a look at what happened to AMAT rev at
the end of 1996. Orders were virtually shutoff for them. Then look at NANO:

DecQ95 MarQ96 JunQ96 SepQ96 DecQ96 MarQ97 JunQ97 SepQ97
AMAT 1040.6 1127.9 1115.4 1115.4 835.8 900.9 1057.2 1280
NANO 5.62 5.55 5.99 6.48 6.58 7.30 7.74 8.43

Plot these for the full effect. You MIGHT be able to see a drop in the rate of
increase of NANO rev during the crisis, but rev never fell like what
can be seen for AMAT. AMAT is just getting back to the

Can someone tell me why NANO did not suffer during this time like AMAT.
