Just kidding. Blaming the local sheriff, the governor, the FBI ... it's all nonsense. We don't live in a police state where big brother keeps a watchful eye on everyone.Banning guns is impossible. There are too many guns and gun owners .. if laws are too restrictive, people won't obey them and law enforcement won't enforce them: Sheriffs Refuse to Enforce Laws on Gun Control About CO, NY, CA nytimes.com Some sheriffs protest gun restrictions; others refuse to enforce the lawsAbout CO, NY, MD ......... Upstate New York sheriffs don’t understand why the state passed the SAFE Act when, as they see it, the only place with a gun problem is New York City. The governor signed the act last year in response to the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. ............ In New York, the state sheriff’s association has publicly decried portions of the SAFE Act, legislation that broadened the definition of a banned assault weapon, outlawed magazines holding more than 10 rounds and created harsher punishments for anyone who kills a first-responder in the line of duty. The act was intended to establish background checks for ammunition sales, although that provision hasn’t taken effect. ................... Colorado made national headlines when 55 of the state’s 62 sheriffs attempted to sign on as plaintiffs in a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of several 2013 gun control bills in the state. The most-controversial measures banned magazines of more than 15 rounds and established background checks for private gun sales. .....gunwars.news21.com Connecticut Gun Owners Fail to Register ...... Estimates on the number of guns subject to the legislation, meanwhile, indicate that there may be as many as 500,000. Based on those figures, analysts suggested that perhaps less than 10 percent — possibly even less than five percent — of the items subject to the draconian new gun-control regime were registered with authorities by the deadline. ......thenewamerican.com Connecticut halts plans to round up firearms after finding most cops in the state are on the list An AR-15 and high capacity magazine. Plans for these confiscations hit a snag when a legislative intern dared to ask a question. “Who will be going door to door to take all the guns away?” asked the 21-year-old college senior. Reportedly multiple people in the room in the most sarcastic voices they could muster said “the police”. The unnamed intern then pointed at the list and said, “my dad’s name is on the list, and he is the police chief. I see three other names on this list of family members, all cops.” With in hours a print off of all sworn Law Enforcement officers in the state was obtained. Comparisons of the list of gun owners who failed to comply with registration requirements and sworn LEOs showed a startling figure. Just over 68% of Connecticut cops had failed to register firearms according to the new law. An anonymous source in the Governors office said lawmakers were dumbfounded. “Someone suggest firing all the cops who failed to register. But the reality of hiring and training that many new police officers is not practical.” The source goes on to say “Senator [redacted to protect our source] said maybe we should issue an official order to all cops to comply with registration or face termination. I mean seriously these people are a special kind of stupid to think that gun-loving cops are going to go along with this blatant violation of the 2nd Amendment.” So now Connecticut is in little quagmire. The powers that be are making all kinds of threats, but there is no one to follow through on the threats. No police officers or police administrators were willing to go on record for this story. Emails to members of the Connecticut legislator and Governors office were not returned by the time of publication.callthecops.net
