According to the latest Gallup poll on the subject, only 22% of Americans call themselves republicans. The really odd part is that this decline came after they created their own news sources or put another way the "liberal media" created far more republicans than the "conservative media."

The Gallup poll only goes back to 2004 (fox went on the air in 1996) so the # of republicans was 48% in 2004 so it can be argued that conservative news caused their party to lose at least 26% of the electorate.
