I agree with all of those points. But none of them would have stopped this kid from packing his legally bought AR-15 and lots of ammo into a sack, jumping into an Uber and blasting his way into that school.

His gun should have been taken away from him.

Israel has already put some of these steps into practice and the nation has seen almost zero school attacks since adopting them.

isreal fortifies it's schools to protect their children,
not from israelis, but from others.

the people of the united states have to protect their
children from their own.

In 2017, with 300,000,000-plus guns in the hands of Americans, there were 15,549 gun deaths. This ranks less than half the number of automobile deaths even though there are fewer cars in existence than guns. In 2017, there were 253,000,000 cars in existence and 41,000 auto death
No, there were over 33,000 gun deaths, you eliminated suicides....

The number of households owning guns has been dropping since about 1974..only about 30-35 % of households own guns but they average 8.2 guns per household..... and the number of guns purchased keeps rising, there's a conclusion in there, isn't there? The number of gun checks keeps rising which means the gun density per household that owns guns keeps rising...

About 5 million assault rifles, including the AR15, are owned in the US.....you can assume they are owned by the same households that own all the other guns....if there was a car that caused so many deaths to some specific group of people you know there would be an instant recall.....the AR15 and other assault rifles qualify...

1. Metal Detectors In Every School:

Then maybe the people who would shoot inside the school, instead shoot up the security line. Not saying it couldn't be useful, but it doesn't fit the title of "How we can eliminate school shootings".

Reinforce Doors, Windows, Buses, Locks:

That should help more than it hurts, but in some cases won't make a difference and in some specific cases could result in a higher death total (say a sniper could have taken out the shooting but the reinforced window protects the shooter). Still probably a good idea. You do have to consider the costs, but its not like every school would replace all these things tomorow, it would happen over time which would make the costs more reasonable.

Not as sure about armored buses, that sounds more expensive, and also buses don't usually seem to be the target (although if schools themselves became tougher targets that possibly might shift attention to buses).
