Yes, about fifteen years ago I came across a copy of the Constitution of the Soviet Union. A remarkable piece of work, and one of which Jefferson could have been proud. It guaranteed freedom of speech, the press, etc. etc. But the criminal government just ignored it.

Unfortunately the term "people's" has almost come to imply the opposite form of government, as has "democratic" in other countries. I guess it was a bad choice of word, therefore, to express my idea of a government designed as ours originally was. We can't forget "The People's Republic of China", or the "Deutsche Democratische Republik" as East Germany was called.
