I agree. One has to separate the Republican politicians from the Republican rank and file. The Republican politicians use the rank and file for their purposes.

This morning trump trumpeted the virtures of the NRA-"good people who look out for us"

I watched a bit of CPAC this morning and it was hair raising.

That may be true at the strategic level to some extent, but cynicism is not the same as intelligence. Is your position that The Leadership, Mike Pence, Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin are actually brain trusts and evil geniuses? That doesn't seem to be the case even for their rich supporters. I don't think the Kochs are idiots, but the people who serve them certainly seem to be stupid and cynical. Who really benefits if teachers are turned into armed guards? This is a policy that will lead to failure. We have teachers running off romantically with students. What about when they can shoot ones that piss them off? Anyone who has ever used a Swiss Army Knife knows it isn't very good at any of the things it does, but it is better than nothing. That is what the Republican donors got.

Dems come armed with facts and policies while Republicans spent seven years lying about having a replacement plan for the ACA. It's not a fair fight.

Dems think Americans want answers but in reality, most people have no clue what the problem is until someone tells them (it's immigrants, Muslims, the poor, too many regulations, taxes etc.). Two days after the election these same voters have no idea why they voted for the republican.
