It is my opinion that Republican candidates are more effective in pursuing their goals than are many Democrats. Just because Republican candidates say stupid shit for votes doesn't mean that they are actually stupid. Republicans tend to approach politics with a gladiator mentality, believing that politics is a zero sum game. Democrats are more likely to approach politics from a more thoughtful place. When politics is a blood sport the gladiator may have the advantage. If Democrats can actually get thinking people to the polls then they will win. That may happen this year.
