Do a Venn diagram to represent the two sets I was differentiating. Label one circle "deaths in mass killings." Label the other circle "deaths by automatic guns in mass killings." Alternately, you could label one of the circles "weapons used in mass killings" and the other one "automatic guns used in mass killings." Even without filling in any numbers you can see a gap in the overlap. The overlap is in fact quite small, at least if your taking about mass killings in the US. Few mass killings involve the use of automatic weapons. In fact offhand I can't think of any other than things like this en.wikipedia.org
