What exactly happened with the USB3, was that I was restoring an image and suddenly had a 'Drive Not Found' error.

Later, using an archive OS drive, which I know is free of defects and malware, I started creating an image of the drive using USB3 and the same error occurred.

What I believe is happening, is that a component on the motherboard is failing after heating up.

The computer still works and I've worked the box very hard for almost 3 years, but the onboard USB3 isn't reliable anymore.

The USB3 drive also isn't seen by file-managers or partition software and windows after the error occurs.
