Fox News military analyst just torched “pathetic” gun owners for obsession with AR-15 BY VINNIE LONGOBARDO PUBLISHED ON FEBRUARY 24, 2018 1.6k SHARES SHARE THIS STORY While Fox News has been a reliable mouthpiece for the National Rifle Association through the years — see for instance an article posted on their website today entitled “Companies Splitting From NRA ‘Basing Business Practices on Thought-Policing'” — one of the news network’s most frequent military analysts, former Army Lt. Col. Ralph Peters, just attacked the NRA and its adherents who claim that Americans need access to military-style assault weapons like the AR-15 used in last week’s school shooting in Parkland, Florida. While the NRA classifies the AR-15 as a “sport shooting and hunting” weapon, Lt. Col. Peters, an ardent conservative, disagrees. “These weapons — AR-15 and similar weapons — are not for sporting purposes,” Peters said to Fox News host Neil Cavuto. “You don’t take them hunting because they’re meant to tear bodies apart. They tear up the meat.” Peters, a fervent supporter of the 2nd amendment and a gun owner himself, knows what the true purpose of these assault weapons remains. “The purpose of the AR-15 series weapons is to kill and maim human beings. That’s it,” the former Army officer explained. Describing how the bullets shot from an AR-15-style weapon are designed to behave, Peters said that they are designed for warfare and “meant to just tear the body apart so that the wounded person can’t get up and fight again.” The Lt. Colonel undermined the entire NRA propaganda machine with his assessment of the suitability of assault weapons for non-military use, “Having those weapons in civilian hands is madness,” he said, an opinion directly opposed to the NRA’s position. Peters did not fault the Broward county deputies who failed to enter the school with their handguns during the murderous attack. “They’re hearing that semi-automatic fire inside — pop, pop, pop, pop. It’s like going in there with bare hands,” he said. Knowing all too well the damage that assault weapons can cause, Lt. Col. Peters concluded with a withering denunciation of the NRA and its adherents. “It’s pathetic that we’re so wrapped up around AR-15s that we don’t want to protect children,” Peters lamented.
