koan, when I told you we were broke and you said we were rich, I didn't have the figures at my fingertips. However, as luck would have it, the US Government just released their latest annual report. Here are the highlights: * Treasury's Annual Report * 2017 Net Worth = ($20.4) Trillion (yes, that is a negative net worth, so the US is insolvent; page 55) * 2017 Net Operating Loss = ($1.2) Trillion (page i) * 2017 Net Present Value of Social Security, Medicare, etc. = ($49) Trillion (yes, that's negative and it represent future revenues minus future legislated payment promises; page 58) It is a myth that the US is rich. We are decidedly poor...by every measure. Yet more profligacy by liberals or conservatives will not help that at all.
