I shake my head and laugh when I read your thoughts. Here you are telling us how awful police training is and somehow you think teachers are going to be highly motivated to get trained and be better! Police face shooters on a constant bases and still THEY don't find the time or incentive to train? But teachers will. Hah! They'll be lucky to remember the number for the gun safe when the bullets start flying - and of course now the kids are leaderless as she - or he - is running to the sound of gunfire - as are the police. Friendly fire. I already said I was okay with it Tim in some situations - but you are living in a make be;lieve Fairy tale land to think the outcome will be what you envision.
