I voted for Romney that year and I really thought he was going to win that one. But I do remember that his poll numbers started going down after his ill-fated 47% comment. I think he turned off a lot of people with that comment. Also, Obama came across as more a man of the the minorities than Romney did. Romney is rich and white. Never mind his messages. Obama was just a juggernaut and he didn't make any messaging mistakes that I can remember. In retrospect, I think Jeb Bush or someone else who the Hispanic vote would get behind might have pulled it off. That might be the deciding factor in the next race, if the Dems can get a decent candidate. Trump has all but alienated most Hispanics.
