How hilarious. Trump thinks rural America "will finally have have high-speed broadband" because Trump says to expedite requests for rural communication facilities on Federal land. Most rural microwave and telephone networks are already located on mountain-tops on Federal land in the western US. This is because Federal land is the least costly option and the Federal government is one of the few owners of mountain-tops in the western US. — Mountain-tops tend to be state and privately owned in the eastern US. What is going to make a huge difference for rural America is the huge swaths of UHF frequencies the Obama administration auctioned off to wireless carriers. Deutsche Telekom's subsidiary T-Mobile spent $8 billion to buy most of it. These frequencies are even lower than those used by Verizon, so easily penetrate trees, buildings and other obstructions which will provide fast reliable coverage for T-Mobile users when in rural areas. Other weak rural networks are certain to pay to use T-Mobil's new 600 Mhz Band 71 network. Fanciful fact-free policies continue to be ordered into place by the blind-emperor.
